Hi, my name is Dewald.
I am a blind musician, artist, piano technician, and writer, living in South Africa.
I became blind at the age of ten, due to a brain opperation to remove a tumor.
After I became blind, I had to learn to do all kind of things again.
I had to go to another school, learn to read Braille, walk independantly, etc.
But one of the things that bothered me the most was that I couldn’t draw pictures anymore. I loved drawing pictures and painting in class.
But somewhere along the line, I tought myself to draw and paint. I am constantly learning to add debth to drawings, and my next goal is to form raised-drawings that everybody can experience, blind or not.
When I paint, I use something to form the raised lines first, and then I would colour in the rest.
I also love writing stories, short stories, some poems, and novels.
I love to play piano, and I got my Honours degree in Piano Performance at the University of the Free State a few years ago.
I like experimenting with different instruments, and can play, to some degree, the cello, clarinet, guitar, ukulele, accordean, autoharp and penny wistle.
But my favourite still is the piano.
I tune and repair pianos. That’s my main business.
I have a separate site which you are welcome to go visit
http://www.happy-pianos.com/
I plan to post some writing, art, music, on this site, and to inspire you through art and music, to give God all the honour He deserves!
